News from the Primary Coordinator

This term our focus has been on Science and our hardworking teachers have organized many activities for the students to take part in. The students have been very busy in their classrooms focusing on learning about biological and chemical science and this week students will have the opportunity to take part in activities such as the Science Expo including making glue, a Paper Plane competition and Poster competitions.

We will also celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week with the students and have lots of activities and events including a Character Parade, Professor Maths who will come to visit us. A musical for the juniors and a famous author who will visit our school to have a chat to the students. We are all very excited and can’t wait until it all begins!

Last week, some of our students took part in the annual Olympiads. The Year 3’s for the very first time took part in the Spelling Bee and came 2nd place. Well done to Yuvan and Eshaal. Also, congratulations Arif, Hashim and Ling from Year 5 who took part in the Integrated Studies competition and came 2nd place. All the students who took part to compete should be very proud of themselves. Well done!

This term we will also hold our annual End of Year Performances for Primary students at the Drum Theatre. We will have our Upper students (Years 3-6) perform on Tuesday the 5th of September and the Juniors (Year F-2) will have theirs on Thursday the 7th of September. All details will be given soon. Please keep an eye out for any requests class teachers may have in relation to costumes and/or anything else the students may need to bring The teachers have already started rehearing and we are all looking forward to perform in front of you and all other friends/family.

Also, a reminder that the Year 5 and 6 Cave Hill Creek Camp will take place on Monday the 18th-Wednesday until the 20th of September. A confirmed list of what students need to bring along with them will be sent out closer to the date of the camp. If parents have any questions they are more than welcome to ask any of the Year 5/6 classroom teachers including myself.

It seems it will be another jam packed term where our students will definitely gain great knowledge whilst having lots of fun.

Please continue to read your child’s class news to see what they have been up to so far this term.

Wishing all families a wonderful term 3!
